The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday that its air force carried out strikes on several Hezbollah sites across Lebanon, citing violations of a fragile ceasefire agreement.
The IDF confirmed that the strikes were conducted overnight and specifically targeted areas in the Nabatieh District in southern Lebanon and the Janta region near Baalbek in the east. The targets included a rocket launcher site, a military facility, and routes along the Syria-Lebanon border used for smuggling weapons to Hezbollah.
The IDF said the strikes were conducted after the ceasefire monitoring mechanism failed to address Hezbollah’s ceasefire violations.

The current truce was brokered on November 27, 2024, following over a year of intensified cross-border attacks by Hezbollah, which began during Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza in October 2023. The agreement required Israel to withdraw its troops from southern Lebanon and Hezbollah to pull its forces north of the Litani River.
However, since the ceasefire, Hezbollah, an Iran-backed group, has reportedly continued its military operations, prompting Israel to respond. It has also maintained its presence in southern Lebanon.
In a statement, the IDF emphasized that it remains committed to countering threats to its national security, particularly those posed by Hezbollah. “The IDF continues to act to remove any threat to the State of Israel and will operate to prevent any attempt by Hezbollah to rebuild its forces in accordance with the ceasefire understanding,” the military declared.
