Speaking fluent Ukrainian, Bruce calmly ordered the Russian soldiers to surrender. He then offered each a cigarette and assured them they would not be harmed.
In a Telegram post, the brigade commended the soldier’s fluency in the Ukrainian language and his politeness during the operation, noting that even the captured soldiers appeared surprised by his demeanor.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, hundreds of Americans have joined the fight to defend Ukraine. While U.S. officials have not publicly confirmed the number of deaths, reports indicate at least 50 Americans, including 40 former service members, have been killed in the Russia-Ukraine war.
