Nicola Pauline Marie Trahan, a distinguished secret agent for the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during World War II, has passed away at the age of 97. Trahan, who was one of the last surviving female members of the clandestine network, played a pivotal role from the young age of 18, parachuting into occupied France to aid in the disruption of Nazi operations and assisting those fleeing persecution. Her efforts earned her high decorations, and she was remembered by friends as a humble and resilient individual, embodying the spirit of resistance with grace and determination.
Following the war, Trahan was honored with the Croix de Guerre with palm and La Médaille de la Reconnaissance française for her valorous contributions. In later years, she dedicated herself to volunteering, notably with the Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen’s Families Association and at Salisbury Cathedral, gaining recognition for her service with an MBE in 1989.Â
