Polish border guards intercepted a group of illegal migrants attempting to breach the Belarus-Poland border, as seen in recently surfaced footage. The video shows Polish Border Security forces halting several individuals who cut through the border fence in an attempt to enter Poland.

While the exact location of the incident was not disclosed, it is believed to have occurred in Podlaskie Voivodeship,a hotspot for illegal crossings and Belarus-backed hybrid operations.
Since 2021, tens of thousands of migrants from the Middle East and Africa have entered the EU through Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia via Belarus. European officials claim the operation is a deliberate tactic by Minsk, allegedly aimed at destabilizing the EU by creating a migration crisis.
According to EU border agency Frontex, attempts to cross the EU’s eastern border from Belarus and Ukraine surged 192% last year, reaching approximately 17,000 people. Most migrants came from Ukraine, Ethiopia, and Somalia.
On Saturday, Poland Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the country’s security services have successfully prevented 98% of illegal border crossings from Belarus.
“We’ve achieved a 98 percent success rate in prevention, meaning that 98 out of 100 illegal border crossing attempts are being stopped thanks to the determination of our soldiers, border officers, and police,” he said.
To bolster security, Poland has earlier deployed approximately 6,000 soldiers along its 247-kilometer border with Belarus.
Tensions at the border have escalated in recent years. In June 2024, a Polish soldier was fatally stabbed by a migrant during a border security operation. Later that year, multiple reports emerged of illegal migrants confronting Polish border guards near the Poland-Belarus border wall, with several incidents captured on video.
