The 8th Special Purpose Regiment reported locating Russian forces inside a building during reconnaissance. They engaged the enemy but withdrew due to Russia’s “superior numbers” and “fortified firing positions.” No Ukrainian losses were reported.
The identified building, where the enemy had entrenched, was later completely destroyed using TM-72 mines.
In September, Russian forces infiltrated Kupiansk by using a gas pipeline, sharply escalating the conflict in the area, with enemy sabotage units entering from the north. Ukrainian troops later destroyed the pipeline, forcing Russian forces to cross the Oskil River on rafts and boats.
Fewer than 50 Russian soldiers remain in the area, said Joint Forces spokesperson Viktor Trehubov. He added that while conditions have slightly improved for Ukraine, the situation in Kupiansk remains difficult.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently stated that Ukraine intends to fully clear Kupiansk of Russian troops.
