The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO) have successfully targeted and destroyed two Russian Buk anti-aircraft missile complexes using attack drones. This operation took place in the Sumy region and involved precise strikes on both systems, one of which was arriving to replace another that had already been disabled.
SSO operators reportedly located the first Buk missile system in its launch position during a reconnaissance operation. Using attack drones, they managed to disable this system effectively. Subsequently, another Buk system was deployed to retrieve the disabled unit. The entire operation was documented through drone camera footage, which showed the targeted missile complexes followed by subsequent explosions.

The specific type of drones used in this operation was not disclosed by the SSO. Moreover, the exact time and location of the footage could not be independently verified.
The Buk missile system, particularly in its modern iterations such as the Buk-M1-2, is valued at approximately $100 million each. These systems are capable of targeting aircraft, cruise missiles, and other aerial assets and are integral to air defense during scenarios of mass air attacks. They can also function as part of a broader tactical anti-missile defense network.
