Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SOF) have reported successful strikes on Russian military and engineering infrastructure in Kursk Oblast, including bridges, pontoon crossings, and other key equipment.
According to a statement released on August 21 by Ukraine’s SOF, Ukrainian troops have been working in coordination with Defense Forces units to identify and destroy Russian engineering assets in the Kursk region. The strikes have targeted vital infrastructure, including all three stationary bridges over the Seim River in the Glushkovsky district, as well as newly constructed pontoon crossings, some of which have been destroyed and are no longer visible in satellite imagery.

The Ukrainian military released a video showcasing the destruction of these targets, highlighting the use of HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems to carry out precision strikes. The video was attributed to operators of the 8th Special Forces Regiment named after Prince Iziaslav Mstyslavych.
In addition to the destruction of river crossings, Ukrainian forces reported hitting and destroying a cluster of Russian military equipment, a field storage point for ammunition and fuel, an electronic warfare system, and a 152-mm D-20 artillery piece in the Kursk region. These strikes have compounded the challenges faced by Russian forces stationed in the area, particularly in the Glushkovsky district, where the loss of crossings over the Seim River could severely hamper their operations.
