On Tuesday, special forces from Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) claimed to have struck an ammunition depot in Russia’s Voronezh region, approximately 50 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
The HUR announced the strike via the social media platform X, stating, “On June 25, 2024, a field ammunition depot belonging to the aggressor state of Russia was struck in the Olkhovatsky district of the Voronezh region.” Footage shared on local state media depicted a massive fire and multiple explosions at the site, which is surrounded by fields and trees.
Voronezh Governor Alexander Gusev confirmed the incident, reporting “a detonation of explosive objects in the Olkhovatsky district,” following two districts being attacked by Ukraine overnight. He reassured that no residents were injured. The HUR described the depot fire as extensive, covering a 3,500-square-meter area, and suggested it would continue to explode for an extended period.
