Ukraine’s military intelligence said it destroyed Russia’s last railway ferry in the Kerch Strait during a drone strike over the weekend.

The Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) reported that its special forces targeted Slavyanin overnight Sunday into Monday.

“Specialists from the Main Directorate of Active Operations of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense used UAV strikes to disable the Slavyanin — the last railway ferry of the occupying army in the Kerch Strait that remained afloat,” the Ukrainian agency said in a Telegram post.

Built in 1984, the 6,300-ton vessel can transport rail cars, trucks, and up to 12 passengers. It has sailed under the Russian flag since 2021.

“The Slavyanin played an important role in supplying the Russian military contingent in temporarily occupied Crimea with fuel, lubricants, weapons, military equipment, and ammunition,” the GUR said.

The ferry was previously targeted in a March 13–14 strike. The earlier attack damaged the Slavyanin and another vessel, Avangard, leaving both out of service for repairs.
