South Korea May Arm Ukraine After Reports of North Korean Soldiers in Russia

South Korea has warned that it may send weapons to Ukraine following reports that North Korea has sent troops to Russia to support its war effort. According to South Korean intelligence, around 1,500 North Korean soldiers have been deployed to Russia’s Far East, with plans to send more in the coming months. Both Russia and North Korea have denied these claims.

Meanwhile, opposition Russian media claim that another group of North Korean soldiers has arrived at Russian barracks.

“They arrived from North Korea, beautiful allies,” says the person in the video.

South Korea made the threat while expressing concerns that Russia may provide North Korea with advanced weapons technology in exchange for its support, potentially strengthening Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile programs. South Korea has so far only provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine and avoided directly supplying arms.

At a meeting following the reported arrival of North Korean troops at Russian military bases, South Korea’s National Security Council labeled North Korea’s alleged troop deployment as a serious security threat.

The military cooperation between North Korea and Russia has been increasing in recent months. Earlier this year, the two countries renewed a defense agreement, raising concerns about deeper military ties. Experts suggest that North Korea’s involvement in the Ukraine war could lead to future joint military activities with Russia and greater access to advanced technology.
