The Ka-52 helicopter is a heavily armed, multi-role aircraft capable of attacking personnel, armored vehicles, and low-speed aerial targets. Known for its agility and durability, the Ka-52 has been deployed extensively by Russia in the Ukraine conflict. It is also equipped for surveillance and command roles, making it a valuable but high-cost asset within the Russian fleet.
This latest loss is a part of a broader trend of significant equipment attrition in the conflict. Russian losses since the start of the Ukraine war reportedly include over 250 infantry fighting vehicles, 103 tanks, 41 armored personnel carriers, and several other aircraft. Russia’s losses are estimated to be more than twice those of Ukraine’s, highlighting the resource strain on Moscow’s military as the war continues into its second year.
