The Houthi movement launched drones and missiles targeting American naval assets, including the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and two U.S. destroyers, in the Red and Arabian seas on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Houthis, a Yemen-based group with ongoing tensions with Saudi Arabia and the U.S. said the attacks were a response to U.S. strikes against Houthi forces and were intended to express support for the people of Gaza and Lebanon.
According to the statement, the Houthis deployed ballistic missiles and drones over an eight-hour period, aiming to strike two Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers in the Red Sea, in addition to the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln stationed in the Arabian Sea. The Houthis claimed the operation had successfully achieved its objectives.

The group’s statement did not include specifics about the damage inflicted, and there has been no verification of the claimed attacks. The U.S. Navy has not confirmed any hits or damage to its vessels in the area.
U.S. defense officials have previously increased alert levels and patrols in the Red Sea and nearby waterways following attacks on commercial or military vessels in these corridors.
