A Russian drone strike on the southern Ukrainian city of Odessa injured at least 11 people Friday morning, damaging residential buildings, administrative facilities, and a horse stable, according to Ukrainian local authorities and emergency services.
The attack was part of a broader wave of overnight and morning strikes across multiple Ukrainian cities. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russian forces launched 79 drones, including Shahed one-way attack drones and decoys, from Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

The Military reported that air defenses managed to shoot down 44 drones, while electronic warfare suppressed 16 more. Nineteen reached their targets. Debris from other drones fell in three separate locations.
In Odessa, five explosions followed air raid alerts issued at 09:19 local time. The drones struck residential areas, administrative buildings, and a horse stable. Three children were among the injured, one of whom remains in serious condition.

The State Emergency Service confirmed that the drone strike killed a mare named Kameliia and injured at least one other horse.
At the time of the attack, five horses and four ponies were inside the stable. Photos published by emergency responders showed bloodied and visibly wounded animals. Surviving horses are now receiving veterinary care.
Local officials also reported additional damage to private homes, civilian infrastructure, and multiple vehicles. Emergency crews responded to the affected sites, and medical personnel treated the injured.
Odessa, Ukraine’s third most populous city and a key maritime hub on the Black Sea, continues to be a frequent target of Russian drone and missile attacks. The July 11 strike followed a record Russian barrage on July 9, when 741 drones and missiles were launched against targets across the country, according to Ukrainian military sources.
Though fewer drones were used in the July 11 strike, military officials suggest the reduction may indicate Russia is conserving drone stockpiles for a larger future offensive.
In addition to the injuries in Odessa, local authorities said at least 27 civilians were wounded in strikes across Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, and other cities. A separate Russian artillery attack on a medical facility in Kherson Oblast injured three more civilians.
