Israeli ground forces carried out a series of raids in southern Lebanon this week, targeting Hezbollah weapons infrastructure and killing senior operatives, according to the Israel Defense Forces. The cross-border operations, described by the military as limited and intelligence-driven, involved dismantling underground storage sites, rocket launchers and firing positions near the Israel–Lebanon border.
The IDF’s 91st Division, including the 300th “Baram” Regional Brigade, the 9th Brigade and the Oded Reserve Brigade, conducted operations in areas such as Jabal Blat and Labbouneh.
Troops located weapons caches and underground facilities, which were destroyed during engineering operations. The military said Wednesday the operations were aimed at preventing Hezbollah from reestablishing positions in areas where its presence is barred under the November 2024 cease-fire agreement.
At Jabal Blat, about 0.6 miles from the Israeli border, troops identified a Hezbollah compound used for weapons storage and as a firing position. In Labbouneh, soldiers found a multi-barrel rocket launcher, a heavy machine gun, dozens of explosive devices and another underground weapons facility.

The IDF also reported killing two senior Hezbollah operatives in separate precision strikes. In Babliyeh, south of Sidon, Hussein Ali Muzhir was killed in a drone strike. Muzhir had directed rocket attacks against Israel as a commander in Hezbollah’s Badr Unit and had recently attempted to rebuild the group’s artillery capabilities in southern Lebanon.

Another Hezbollah commander, Muhammad Jamal Marad, was eliminated in a strike in the Al-Mansouri area. According to the IDF, Marad served as Hezbollah’s artillery commander for the coastal sector and was responsible for numerous rocket attacks on Israel during the war. In recent months, he had resumed efforts to restore the group’s artillery network in the region.

“Marad’s activities posed a threat to the State of Israel and its citizens and constituted a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,” the IDF said in their, adding that operations will continue to eliminate emerging threats.
Though Israel has maintained troops at five observation posts north of the border since the cease-fire, raids beyond those positions have been rare. The IDF said the recent incursions were carried out based on intelligence identifying weapons stockpiles and militant infrastructure.
The Lebanese government has claimed to have made significant progress in seizing Hezbollah’s weapons in the south, stating that 80 percent of its disarmament goals have been met with assistance from Israeli intelligence shared via U.S. intermediaries
Despite the announcement, Israeli military officials remain skeptical of Hezbollah’s long-term intentions.
