According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mossad assisted Greece in thwarting a terrorist act that was allegedly being planned on an Athens-area Jewish landmark by individuals with ties to Iran.Â
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency, helped Greece prevent a terrorist attack against a Jewish site in Athens. Greek authorities arrested two men of Pakistani origin who were planning to attack a Jewish restaurant, which was considered to be imminent and intended to cause extensive loss of life. The suspects have been charged with terrorism offenses, and a third man believed to be outside Greece has been charged in absentia. Netanyahu’s office stated that the attackers were linked to Iran, and Mossad assisted in unraveling the infrastructure, work methods, and links to Iran. The two suspects, who entered Greece illegally from Turkey, are believed to be part of an overseas network and will be questioned by a public prosecutor on Friday.
