SOFINS 2023: SAFRAN unveils NAVKITE navigation system for Special Forces | Army Recognition

NAVKITE, a portable hybrid navigation system created by Safran Electronics & Defense, enables special forces to operate without GNSS signals while providing accurate position, navigation, and timing information in challenging terrain. 

Safran Electronics & Defense has developed a compact hybrid navigation system called NAVKITE that allows special forces to operate in environments without Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals. The system combines the GEONYX M inertial navigation system with the VersaSync time/frequency server to provide trusted position, navigation, and timing data. The first sea trials of the system were successful, and it was deployed in the joint services exercise HEMEX in February 2023. NAVKITE represents a new autonomous and sovereign PNT solution developed through a partnership between Safran and FUSCOLAB. The system is a technological breakthrough that meets naval special forces’ demanding requirements.
