The Marine Corps is upgrading 50,000 radios to multi-channel, software-defined models for enhanced security and efficiency, in line with NSA standards. Since October 2023, over 4,000 units have been deployed, targeting full fielding by fiscal 2025. These advanced radios, adaptable with new waveforms, offer improved situational awareness and communication resilience, crucial for future conflicts. This initiative aligns with the Corps’ modernization strategy, emphasizing the need for versatile communication tools against sophisticated threats.
