Late Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a targeted strike in southern Lebanon, killing a senior commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan force, Ali Jaafar Maatouk, also known as Habib Maatouk. This strike, part of ongoing tit-for-tat attacks, targeted Maatouk in the town of Jmaijmeh. Maatouk was an operations officer responsible for attacks on northern Israel’s Ramim Ridge region, which has seen repeated hostilities amid the war against Hamas.
The IDF confirmed that it carried out a strike in southern Lebanon last night (Wednesday), killing a senior commander in Hezbollah’s elite Radwan force.

In addition to Maatouk, several other Hezbollah operatives were killed. The strike also damaged a Hezbollah command center, an ammunition depot, and various technical facilities.Â
Earlier that day, Israeli air defenses intercepted two drones from Lebanon. Concurrently, a Hamas commander and another Hezbollah operative were killed in separate Israeli strikes in Lebanon. Hezbollah retaliated by launching dozens of rockets and missiles into Israel, including an attack on the Filon base in Safed.
