Israeli drones struck Houthi-controlled sites at Yemen’s Hodeidah port on Monday, targeting what the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) described as military infrastructure used in attacks against Israel and international shipping.
The IDF said the strikes destroyed engineering equipment, fuel tanks, naval vessels, and assets tied to Houthi efforts to rebuild parts of the port previously hit by Israel. Additionally, the strikes targeted vessels in the maritime zone near the port, along with other terrorist infrastructure used by the Houthis.

The Israeli military said the port had been used among other things, “to transfer weapons from the Iranian regime, which are then used by the Houthi to execute terrorist attacks against the State of Israel and its allies.”
Military officials told The Times of Israel that unlike previous operations involving fighter jets and refueling aircraft, Monday’s attack was carried out exclusively with drones.
Israel has repeatedly targeted Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, including a naval strike in June. The latest strike marked Israel’s first attack on Yemen since the exchange of strikes between Israel and the Houthis on July 7.
“The Houthis will pay a heavy price for firing missiles at Israel,” said Defense Minister Israel Katz. “Yemen’s rule is the same as Tehran’s,” Katz added, referring to Israel’s 12-day campaign against Iran in June.
Hours after the strike, Israel announced it had intercepted a suspected Houthi drone launched from the east.
Later, the Houthis’ military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, confirmed that the group had launched drone attacks on several targets in Israel in retaliation to Israel’s strike on Hodeidah port.
