On Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that an airstrike targeted and killed Ismail Yusaf Baz, a commander of Hezbollah’s coastal sector, in Ain Ebel, Lebanon. The IDF described Baz as a senior figure within Hezbollah, involved in orchestrating rocket and anti-tank missile launches towards Israel. According to the IDF, Baz played a significant role in the planning and execution of attacks against Israel, particularly during heightened periods of conflict.
In response to the airstrike, Hezbollah launched explosive-laden drones towards northern Israel, triggering rocket sirens across the region.Â
The IDF’s operation in Ain Ebel was part of a broader military response to ongoing rocket fire from Hezbollah. Additional strikes were reported in other towns in southern Lebanon, including Ain Baal and Shihabiya, where further casualties were reported by Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency.
