The Israeli military said Thursday it carried out strikes on weapons sites tied to Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force in southern Lebanon.

The Israel Defense Force (IDF) said the depots were concealed in civilian buildings. Footage from the scene showed unmarked structures with secondary blasts confirming weapons inside. Lebanon’s state news agency reported material damage.

Prior to the strikes, IDF spokesperson, Lt. Col. Avichay Adraee, said an evacuation order was issued for three areas in southern Lebanon including Mays al-Jabal, Kafr Tebnit, and Dibbine.

“The Hezbollah terror organization continues its attempts to restore terror infrastructure in southern Lebanon, especially the Radwan unit with the aim of harming the State of Israel,” the IDF said in a statement.

The IDF added that Hezbollah’s attempts to restore the Radwan Force violated the November 2024 ceasefire.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the strikes and questioned Israel’s commitment to halting hostilities, citing frequent attacks on what Israel claims are Hezbollah targets in the south.

“The Lebanese government, firmly committed to the path of halting hostilities, remains engaged in the mechanism meetings,” he said, referring to the U.S.-Lebanon-Israel talks on upholding the November ceasefire.

“But the legitimate question today is: Where is Israel’s commitment to these frameworks?” Salam asked. “How can it persist in intimidation and attacks when these meetings are supposed to ensure full implementation of Resolution 1701 and the cessation of hostilities?”

After the latest attacks, Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah said Lebanon needed no further proof that “Israel’s terrorism” cannot be checked by international or diplomatic guarantees. He did not address Israel’s claim that Hezbollah is rebuilding its forces.
