A missile attack orchestrated by the Houthi militant group against a Barbados-flagged shipping vessel, M/V True Confidence, in the Gulf of Aden, has resulted in the loss of at least two sailors. This attack represents the first fatal assault by the group on commercial shipping interests in this strategic maritime corridor.
Launched from a Houthi-controlled area in Yemen, the anti-ship ballistic missile struck the vessel around 11:30 a.m. local time, causing substantial damage and leading to the death of two crew members, with six others wounded. The Liberian-owned bulk carrier was abandoned as coalition warships rushed to assess the situation and secure the area. This incident has prompted renewed scrutiny of the Houthi’s maritime aggression.
