Ukrainian soldiers from the 14th Chervona Kalyna Brigade saved the life of a severely wounded comrade by performing an emergency blood transfusion on the front lines while under relentless Russian fire.
The National Guard of Ukraine’s press service released the footage of the life-saving procedure, which took place during the fighting near Pokrovske.
The brigade reported that the wounded soldier had suffered a critical injury and was losing blood rapidly. With evacuation impossible due to continuous shelling, the unit determined that an on-site transfusion was the only option to save his life.
To make it happen, the brigade repurposed a drone, normally used for bombing missions, to deliver a blood container from a mobile medical unit positioned in the rear. The drone dropped the supply directly into the soldier’s shelter.
Guided by a remote surgeon via video link, members of the reconnaissance unit carried out the transfusion themselves. The procedure was successful, and the soldier was later evacuated to a hospital. His condition is now reported as stable.
“This whole story is another reminder: in this war, victory comes not only through weapons and drones but also through resolve, ingenuity and brotherhood,” the brigade said in a Telegram post.
This was not the first time drones were used for medical support. In February, the 12th Azov Special Operations Brigade used drones to deliver blood to save a soldier who had suffered a severe neck injury.
