A modernized Ukrainian Air Force MiG-29 carried out a precision airstrike on two Russian military targets in the occupied Kherson region, employing French-made AASM HAMMER guided bombs, Ukrainian defense sources confirmed this week.
The attack, captured on video and published by the Soniah Telegram channel, resulted in the complete destruction of command-and-control nodes and adjacent military shelter near the village of Babyne.
The strike was also shared online by Twitter account OSINTtechnical, who geolocated the strike’s impact site. The Ukrainian Air Force later confirmed that both targets were successfully hit using two AASM HAMMER bombs delivered with accuracy.

“Aviation continues to operate on all directions. The MiG-29 crew destroyed a company command post and the shed where the security unit was located,” the Soniah channel reported. The strike was reportedly coordinated with aerial reconnaissance support.
The AASM HAMMER (Armement Air-Sol Modulaire) is a French-developed precision-guided munition designed for modular integration with various aircraft platforms. To enable its deployment, Ukrainian MiG-29s underwent structural and avionics modifications, including fire control and targeting system updates, to ensure compatibility with Western air-to-ground ordnance. The integration allows for guided munitions delivery from standoff ranges, improving strike accuracy and reducing exposure to enemy air defenses.
In a related operation, another Ukrainian MiG-29 reportedly bombed the Russian Pogar checkpoint in Russia’s Bryansk Oblast, near the borders with Ukraine’s Chernihiv region and Belarus. The checkpoint had reportedly been used for the movement of Russian personnel and equipment, as well as the staging of drone deliveries and suspected sabotage activity.
