On Tuesday, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its forces successfully intercepted and destroyed one Iranian-backed Houthi uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) and two Houthi anti-ship ballistic missiles launched from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen over the Red Sea. The weapons were neutralized between Sunday evening and Monday evening, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain security in the region.

In addition to these interceptions, CENTCOM reported the destruction of three other Houthi weapons and vessels over the past 24 hours. These included an uncrewed surface vessel (USV), another UAV, and an anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM), all posing imminent threats to U.S. and coalition forces, as well as merchant vessels navigating the waters.

CENTCOM described these actions as necessary to counter the “reckless and dangerous behavior” of the Iranian-backed Houthi forces, which continue to threaten regional stability and security. The interception and destruction of these weapons highlight the ongoing risks posed by Houthi activities in the Gulf of Aden and the broader Red Sea area.

Arabic media outlets reported joint U.S. and British airstrikes targeting Houthi-controlled sites in Yemen, specifically in the city of Taiz in the southwest. These strikes reportedly hit military outposts from where missiles were fired towards the Red Sea. The Houthi-run Al-Masira television channel confirmed that the strikes impacted the Taiz region.

The recent operations are part of a broader campaign by the United States and Britain, which have conducted numerous airstrikes in Yemen since January. These actions are reportedly aimed at pressuring the Houthi leadership in Sanaa to cease their support for Gaza amid ongoing conflict involving Israel. This campaign has resulted in significant casualties and damage within Yemen.
