A U.S. Army helicopter collision that occurred during a training exercise near Healy, Alaska, in April 2023 has been detailed in a military investigation report. The report reveals that the accident happened as a flight of 14 aircraft, including two AH-64D Apache helicopters from the 1st Attack Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment, was returning from training and entered a mountain pass. About 30 seconds after making a planned right turn into the pass, one helicopter struck another, resulting in the crash of both aircraft and the tragic deaths of three soldiers. The incident led to a temporary grounding of aviation units for training in the Army.
