The U.S. Army, in partnership with the U.S. Special Operations Command, successfully conducted a flight demonstration on December 3 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, involving the inaugural launch of the Altius 700 air vehicle. This air-launched drone system was launched from a Black Hawk helicopter and is part of the Launched Effects initiative aimed at enhancing the Army’s capabilities in identifying and responding to threats in contested environments. The demonstration provided valuable data on the Altius 700’s performance during various operational phases, paving the way for upcoming test flights and potential fielding in 2025.
