The US military, including Navy SEAL Team Six, conducted a successful evacuation of the American embassy in Sudan under President Joe Biden’s orders. The mission was completed quickly and efficiently, with under 100 people, including Americans and personnel from other unidentified embassies, being evacuated by two MH-47 Chinook helicopters. The rescue mission was conducted in the midst of ongoing violent conflict in Sudan, which has already claimed over 420 lives and left over 3,700 injured. The Rapid Support Forces, a Sudanese paramilitary group, claimed to have aided in the US evacuation, but US officials denied the claim. The Biden administration will continue to assist Americans in Sudan despite temporarily closing the embassy.
