The Special Operations Forces of Ukraine announced the successful targeting of a Russian electronic warfare complex known as Zhitel in the Zaporizhzhia region. This operation involved the use of reconnaissance drones by the 3rd separate regiment of the SSO, which identified the complex during surveillance activities. The precise location of the complex was communicated to an artillery unit within the Ukrainian Defense Forces, enabling a direct hit on the target.
Video footage shared by the SSO illustrates the moment of impact, showcasing the explosion that rendered the complex inoperative. Despite the low resolution of the footage, the destruction of the electronic warfare system is evident. The specific type of weaponry utilized in the strike was not disclosed by the Special Operations Forces.

The Zhitel complex, typically operated by a crew of four, is equipped for the automated detection, direction finding, and analysis of radio signals. It has been known to pose substantial interference challenges for GPS and mobile communication users. Russian forces have reportedly deployed the R-330Zh Zhitel station since 2014 in the Donbas region, with its use tracing back to the first Chechen campaign.
This is not the first instance of Ukrainian forces targeting Zhitel stations. Previous engagements have led to the elimination of several units across various combat zones, including the battles for Kyiv and operations in eastern and Kharkiv regions. Notably, in early March, the SSO reported the destruction of another Zhitel complex via an American HIMARS missile system.
