Ukrainian drones reportedly hit residential buildings in Kazan, the capital of Russia’s Tatarstan region. Russian authorities confirmed eight drones were involved in the attacks, which occurred in three waves on Saturday between 7:40 a.m. and 9:20 a.m.
According to Russian independent news outlet Meduza, four of the eight drones crashed into two high-rise residential buildings, while one struck a low-rise residential building. The press service of the governor of Tatarstan, the republic where Kazan is located, said a drone attempting to attack an industrial plant “missed its target.”
Officials reported no fatalities, but some people sustained minor injuries from shattered glass. Residents were evacuated and provided temporary shelters and meals following the incident. Schools in some areas were also evacuated as a precaution.
Kazan International Airport and a nearby airport in Izhevsk halted operations after the strikes, though they have now resumed after a brief closure of a few hours.

The Russian Defense Ministry blamed Ukraine for the attack, identifying the drones as Ukrainian-made models.
The recent strike follows a series of Ukrainian drone and missile operations targeting Russian infrastructure, including an oil depot in Kaluga last month.
