Ukraine’s military intelligence agency said it struck two Russian landing ships and a radar system in occupied Crimea during an overnight operation over the weekend.
The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (GUR) said its special unit “Prymary” carried out the strikes in Sevastopol Bay on the night of April 18-19. It identified the targeted Russian landing ships as the Project 775 Yamal and the Project 1171 Nikolai Filchenkov, both of which were docked in the harbor at the time of the strike.

The Yamal, commissioned in 1988, can carry up to 500 tons of cargo, including armored vehicles and troops, while the Nikolai Filchenkov, built in 1975, has a capacity of up to 1,000 tons and can transport a larger landing force.
Ukrainian intelligence estimated the combined value of the ships at more than $150 million.
“Both ships, which Russia used in its criminal war against Ukraine, have been rendered inoperable,” GUR said.
In the same operation, Ukrainian intelligence said it destroyed a Russian Podlyot-K1 radar system in Sevastopol, which is used to detect low-altitude aerial targets and is valued at roughly $5 million.
According to open-source reports, a total of five Russian ships were hit during Ukraine’s overnight operation.

In addition to Yamal and Nikolay Filchenkov, the large landing ships Azov and Olshansky were also reportedly damaged, along with the large reconnaissance ship Slavutych. SOFX could not independently verify this.
The Russian government did not immediately comment on the reports.
The recent strikes come amid Ukraine’s continued campaign to degrade Russian military capabilities in Crimea, which serves as a key logistics and naval hub for Moscow’s Black Sea operations.
