Ukraine struck the Russian frigate Admiral Makarov, a 3,260-ton Project 11356 vessel, in the port of Novorossiysk on the Black Sea early Monday, Ukrainian officials said. 

Robert “Madyar” Brovdy, commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, said in a statement on Telegram that the operation was carried out by the Unmanned Systems Forces and coordinated by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

Brovdy said the frigate launched air-defense missiles during the attack, but they failed to prevent the drones from hitting the vessel. Open-source reports said the Ukrainian attacks were likely carried out using FP‑1 and FP‑2 guided strike drones.

The Admiral Makarov, commissioned in 2018, is capable of carrying Kalibr cruise missiles and is equipped with air-defense systems. Ukrainian officials previously claimed to have damaged the warship in attacks on Sevastopol in 2022 and March 2026.

Also struck was the Syvash, a self-elevating oil drilling platform in the Black Sea. Brovdy said the floating platform was targeted by the Birds of the 413th Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment “Raid,” in coordination with the Navy’s deep-strike forces.

Unconfirmed reports suggest Russia has used the platform for surveillance, communication, and intelligence gathering since the occupation of Crimea.

The Ukrainian army reported that it also struck the Sheskharis oil terminal, a key Russian hub in the port of Novorossiysk, which also hosts the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) pipeline. The CPC pipeline handles roughly 1% of global oil supplies and about 80% of Kazakhstan’s exports.

“The oil-loading infrastructure of the Sheskharis terminal (Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Krai, Russia) was hit. Strikes on the target were recorded, and a large fire broke out on the terminal grounds.”

Russia confirmed the strikes overnight, saying Ukraine “attacked facilities at the marine transshipment complex in Novorossiysk using fixed-wing attack drones.”

“As a result of the Ukrainian drone strikes, the pipeline of a single mooring point, as well as a loading and unloading terminal, were damaged, and four oil product storage tanks caught fire,” the ministry added.

The Sheskharis terminal, also known as the Sheskharis Transshipment Complex, handles the reception, storage, and export of crude oil and petroleum products to tankers. The facility was previously targeted in early March, marking the second known strike this year.

Ukraine said the recent strikes on Russian oil infrastructure were carried out “as part of measures to reduce the military-economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”
