Ukraine launched a drone attack on Moscow and several Russian regions early Tuesday, marking one of the largest strikes on Moscow since the war began. Russian authorities reported that over 140 drones were involved, including 20 targeting the Moscow region. The strikes killed one woman in the town of Ramenskoye, damaged several residential buildings, and forced the evacuation of five buildings due to falling debris.

Normally limited to cheering on their war with images on television, a Moscovite gets an up close look.

The attack also led to the temporary closure of three major Moscow-area airports, causing nearly 50 flights to be diverted. Russian defense officials claimed they intercepted 144 drones across nine regions, including 72 in Bryansk and 20 near Moscow. Kyiv has not commented on the incident, though Ukraine has increased drone strikes in recent months as part of its broader strategy to disrupt Russian military operations.
Russia, in turn, launched its own drone strikes on Ukraine, with Ukrainian forces reporting that they shot down 36 of 46 incoming drones.Â
