A U.S. service member has died from injuries sustained during Iranian attacks on American forces in the Middle East, U.S. military officials confirmed Sunday.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated the service member was seriously injured on March 1 during an Iranian strike on troops stationed in Saudi Arabia.

The individual’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. A military official later confirmed the service member was a member of the U.S. Army.
The March 1 attack occurred the same day an Iranian drone strike killed six Army Reserve soldiers at a makeshift operations center in Kuwait.
The soldiers, identified as Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan, Capt. Cody Khork, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens, and Sgt. Declan Coady were honored in a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Saturday.
In another post on X on Sunday, CENTCOM said a member of the U.S. National Guard died during a medical emergency in Kuwait on March 6, bringing the total US military deaths in the Iran war to eight.
In a statement posted on X, CENTCOM said the guardsman died in a “health-related incident.”
