A U.S. missionary couple, Davy and Natalie Lloyd, were killed in Haiti on Thursday, according to family members and the organization they worked for. The couple, who had been serving in Haiti under Missions in Haiti, Inc., were ambushed by armed gang members while leaving a church event with their children.
Natalie Lloyd’s father, Missouri state Rep. Ben Baker, announced the tragic news on Facebook, stating, “They went to Heaven together.” The couple had been married since 2022 and were deeply involved in missionary work through an organization run by Davy Lloyd’s parents for over two decades.
The attack occurred when Davy, Natalie, and their children were ambushed by gang members traveling in three trucks. According to a post by Missions in Haiti on their Facebook page, Davy was tied up and beaten, and the gang subsequently looted the mission’s vehicles. Approximately three hours later, the organization confirmed that both Davy and Natalie were shot and killed.
The tragic news has prompted widespread condolences and calls for prayer. Rep. Ben Baker asked for prayers for both his family and the Lloyd family, expressing their devastation. Missouri Governor Mike Parson also mourned the loss, describing it as “absolutely heartbreaking news.”
The White House expressed its condolences and reiterated the urgency of addressing the security crisis in Haiti. A national security spokesperson emphasized the need for the expedited deployment of a UN Security Council-approved international police force to assist the Haitian National Police in restoring order and protecting civilians.
