The U.S. Army deployed a new rotational force to the Philippines in July 2025, the service confirmed this week.
The newly established unit, officially called Army Rotational Force–Philippines, remained under the radar for six months after its creation in July 2025. It was publicly revealed in a post on the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service, the military’s official image and video platform.
Details on the force’s formation date, mission, and capabilities remain limited but reports said it is led by a lieutenant colonel and includes a liaison officer attached to Task Force–Philippines, which War Secretary Pete Hegseth unveiled in October to strengthen coordination with Manila against Chinese coercion.
The deployment follows advanced missile and joint training exercises across the islands amid ongoing Chinese pressure in the South China Sea.
