Two people died and more than 500 were arrested across France after celebrations for Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) Champions League victory turned violent, French authorities said Sunday.
As PSG secured their first-ever top European club title, celebrations erupted into chaos with flares lighting up the sky, bus shelters shattered, and cars set ablaze.

A 17-year-old boy who was stabbed to death in Dax, southwestern France, during a street celebration. In Paris, a 23-year-old man died after his scooter collided with a car during PSG celebrations, according to the FrenchInterior Ministry.
Police said a total of 192 people were injured around the capital. Among them was a police officer in Coutances who was struck by fireworks. He is currently in a coma with severe eye injuries.
President Emmanuel Macron condemned the violence as “unacceptable” and said those responsible would be punished.
The Interior Ministry said 559 people were arrested, including 491 in Paris. Police chief Laurent Nuñez said many of those arrested did not watch the match and only came to cause trouble. “We will always respond firmly,” he said.
While there was violence reported, the majority of fans marked PSG’s 5-0 victory over Inter Milan with joy, dancing and singing in the streets and honking car horns.

The Eiffel Tower was illuminated in PSG’s blue and red colors to celebrate PSG’s victory.

“True PSG supporters are enjoying the win,” said Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau. “Others came just to commit crimes.”
PSG said the violence does not represent most of their supporters. “These isolated acts are contrary to the club’s values,” the club said.
