In response to the killing of 12 Turkish soldiers in northern Iraq, the Turkish air force conducted air strikes in both northern Iraq and Syria. The strikes targeted 29 locations associated with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), including bases, shelters, and oil facilities believed to be used by the militants. The operations were carried out in an effort to neutralize PKK militants responsible for the recent attacks. Turkey has been engaged in ongoing military operations against the PKK, which has been designated as a terrorist group by multiple nations, including Turkey, the United States, and the European Union.
