The Taliban has invited U.S. citizens to visit Afghanistan four years after the fall of Kabul, through a new tourism video that has already gone viral.
The 50-second video, created by Yosaf Aryubi, who operates a tour company called Raza Afghanistan, opens with a mock execution, featuring a blindfolded man who smiles and says, “Welcome to Afghanistan.”
It then cuts rapidly to shots of Taliban fighters posing with rifles, traditional Afghan dishes, and scenic backdrops.

The video coincides with the Taliban’s effort to develop Afghanistan’s tourism industry.
Deputy Tourism Minister Qudratullah Jamal told The Associated Press in June that the country is generating “a considerable amount of revenue” from tourism and expressed optimism about its future. “We are optimistic this sector will evolve into a large economy, bringing significant benefits,” the official said.
Jamal added that tourists are welcome as long as they respect local laws and traditions. “The Afghan people are warm and welcoming and want to host tourists from other countries and engage with them,” he added.
The campaign comes just four years after the U.S. withdrawal from Kabul in 2021, when 13 American troops and more than 160 Afghan civilians were killed in a suicide bombing.
The U.S. Embassy in Kabul has been closed since 2021, and Americans are strongly advised not to travel to Afghanistan under any circumstances.
According to the latest State Department advisory, multiple terrorist groups remain active in the country, and U.S. citizens are prime targets for kidnapping and hostage-taking.
