A fragile ceasefire in the U.S.–Israel war with Iran faced renewed pressure on Sunday after multiple Gulf states reported suspected Iranian drone attacks.
Qatar said a drone struck a cargo vessel sailing in its waters northeast of Mesaieed Port on Sunday morning. The incident caused fire but no injuries were reported.

The Gulf escalation follows a series of maritime and aerial incidents over the past week, including attacks on commercial shipping and military responses involving Iranian and U.S. forces.
On Friday, the U.S. struck two Iranian oil tankers it said were attempting to breach a blockade of Iranian ports. Earlier in the week, the UAE said it was targeted by Iranian missiles and drones for a second consecutive day, an allegation denied by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The attacks come amid the April 7 U.S.–Iran ceasefire and continuing diplomatic efforts to sustain it.
Iran sent its response to the latest U.S. proposal aimed at ending the Iran war through Pakistani mediators on Sunday, but U.S. President Donald Trump swiftly dismissed it in a social media post as “totally unacceptable.”

Further details about the proposal were not provided. However, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency said the response called for an end to the war on all fronts, the lifting of U.S. sanctions on Iranian oil sales, the removal of the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports, and the unfreezing of Iranian assets.
