The PLA’s special operations brigade invited civilian shooting expert Li Huaiyi to teach them how to shoot under IAG rules, indicating a trend of the Chinese government enlisting Chinese people to teach them in areas where they are lacking.
Li Huaiyi, a civilian with extensive shooting experience, was invited by a special operations brigade of the PLA’s 80th Group Army to teach them how to shoot under the rules used by the International Army Games (IAG). Li was chosen due to his experience in shooting in various styles under the same rules adopted by the IAG in 2021. The members selected for the competition trained with Li for about six months but found the transition to the new shooting style difficult. Li’s shooting experience stems from his time participating in various shooting competitions in the United States from 2015 to 2019, including being a member of the International Defensive Pistol Association. Li tried to join the PLA but was disqualified for unspecified reasons. This move by the PLA to invite a civilian expert to train its members is an example of how the Chinese government entities entice Chinese people to teach them in areas where they are deficient.
