In a significant escalation of conflict in Kachin state, Myanmar, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) together with the People Defense Force has successfully overtaken more than 20 military outposts of the junta regime in a span of just two days. The operation has seen a wide range of strategic locations, from a vital military outpost near Laiza to several bases along the Sagaing-Kachin border, fall under KIA control.
Reliable sources confirm that among the captured positions is Hkayabone, a key outpost near Laiza that has been a central point for the junta’s military operations aimed at the KIA headquarters. This area, which fell to the junta forces during the conflict between the Tatmadaw (Myanmar’s military) and the KIA in 2014, has now been reclaimed by the KIA.
Furthermore, the operation has extended to the Sagaing-Kachin border, where multiple junta military bases, previously heavily guarded and fortified, have been seized by the KIA and PDF forces. This series of successful captures marks a critical setback for the junta regime, significantly diminishing its military strength and undermining its grip on the Kachin state.
