The Israeli military on Sunday confirmed it carried out an airstrike in southern Lebanon, killing two individuals it identified as Hezbollah operatives involved in rebuilding militant infrastructure.
The strike reportedly hit a flat in a residential area in the southern town of Zibqin. Lebanon’s health ministry said the victims were operating a bulldozer at the time of the attack.
The incident comes just two days after a separate Israeli strike in the southern city of Sidon killed Hassan Farhat, a senior commander in Hamas’ military wing. A Lebanese security source said Farhat’s adult son and daughter also died in the attack.
Israel accused Farhat of orchestrating a rocket attack last year on the northern Israeli city of Safed, which left several soldiers dead and wounded. Hamas confirmed his death and hailed him as a key figure in its armed resistance against Israel.
A targeted attack on the third floor of a building, near Dala’a Hospital in Sidon, led to the killing of Hassan “Abu Yasser” Farhat, a Hamas operative in Lebanon.
According to reports, Farhat was involved in fighting in Sidon in 1985 under the organization “Al-Jama’a… pic.twitter.com/ounWye3kgb

Earlier this week, Israel also carried out an airstrike in southern Beirut, killing a Hezbollah official who served as a liaison to Palestinian factions. It was only the second such strike on the Lebanese capital since a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah took effect in November.
According to Lebanon’s health ministry, the attack left four people dead, including a woman.
While Lebanese officials condemned the strike, Israel said it was a response to recent rocket fire from Lebanon—an attack Hezbollah has denied involvement in.
