Israel launched strikes Monday on Hezbollah and Hamas positions in eastern and southern Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the operation included four strikes targeting militant infrastructure, including two underground Hezbollah facilities.
The strikes followed evacuation warnings in Hammara, Ain el-Tineh, Kfar Hatta, and Aanan.
In an announcement urging residents to evacuate, Israeli military spokesperson Col. Avichay Adraee said the operations targeted Hezbollah sites in response to the group’s attempts to reestablish activity in the region. In a subsequent post, he said that Hamas sites were also among the targets.

The action comes after Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar met with UN Special Coordinator Jeanine Hennis in Jerusalem to discuss regional security and Israel’s push for Hezbollah to be disarmed.
Israel and Lebanon agreed to a U.S.-brokered ceasefire in 2024, ending over a year of fighting with Hezbollah. Since then, both sides have exchanged accusations of violations.
In accordance with a U.S.-proposed peace plan, the Lebanese cabinet tasked the military in August with formulating a plan to disarm Hezbollah by the end of 2025. In September, the Lebanese military presented a phased approach, starting with the south of the country up to the Litani River, 28 km (17 miles) from the Israeli border, then moving north toward Beirut and eventually nationwide.
Last Thursday marked the deadline for completing the first stage.
Hezbollah has dismissed the disarmament efforts and condemned ongoing Israeli attacks.
“To demand exclusive arms control while Israel is committing aggression and America is imposing its will on Lebanon, stripping it of its power, means that you are not working in Lebanon’s interest but rather in the interest of what Israel wants,” Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem said last week.
