Israel Resumes Lebanon Strikes Despite Trump-Brokered Halt

Israeli warplanes carried out dozens of airstrikes across southern Lebanon on Tuesday, a day after President Donald Trump said Israel had agreed to halt attacks in Lebanon.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported about 30 Israeli strikes in the south. Near the coastal city of Sidon, rescuers recovered the bodies of six members of the same family, including two children and a woman, after an Israeli strike.

Trump said Monday he had intervened to stop an imminent Israeli strike on Beirut and had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and representatives of Hezbollah. He said both sides agreed that “all shooting will stop”.

Axios reported that Trump criticized Israel’s attacks in Lebanon, carried out following its decision to escalate operations there despite a ceasefire. During a Monday phone call with Netanyahu, Trump reportedly said: “You’re fucking crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this.”

The sources said Trump also warned Netanyahu that proceeding with strikes would further isolate Israel internationally.

Meanwhile, tensions also escalated between Iran and American forces. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a post on X that Iran launched missiles toward Bahrain and Kuwait on Tuesday.

“Iran launched several ballistic missiles toward regional neighbors; however, all failed to hit their intended targets. Two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait fell short or broke apart en route, and three missiles launched at Bahrain were immediately intercepted by U.S. and Bahrain air defense forces,” CENTCOM said.

CENTCOM added that U.S. forces shot down three one-way attack drones launched by Iran toward civilian mariners transiting regional waters. It also said American forces conducted self-defense strikes on an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island.

The command further said it disabled a Botswana-flagged tanker heading toward Iran’s Kharg Island, stating: “The ship’s crew ignored repeated warnings, failing to comply with directions from U.S. forces over a 24-hour period.”

CENTCOM said U.S. forces have “disabled six commercial vessels and redirected 122” since the naval blockade on ships transiting to and from Iranian ports began on April 13.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of the Treasury on Tuesday announced new sanctions targeting Nobitex, Iran’s largest digital asset exchange, along with three other Iranian crypto platforms, as part of a broader “maximum pressure” campaign against Tehran’s financial networks.

Treasury officials said the exchanges were used to help Iran evade sanctions, move funds abroad, and support activities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Nobitex alone accounted for more than half of Iran’s digital asset inflows in 2025, according to the Treasury Department.
