The Israeli Air Force carried out airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in the Beqaa Valley of eastern Lebanon overnight Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed. The strikes targeted sites in the village of Janta, near the Syria-Lebanon border.
According to the IDF, the strikes hit underground infrastructure used for weapons development and sites used to smuggle arms from Syria into Lebanon. The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that two people were killed and ten others injured.

The airstrikes followed an incident on Thursday in which Hezbollah launched a surveillance drone toward Israel. The IDF stated that it intercepted the drone before it crossed into Israeli airspace and described the launch as a violation of the ceasefire agreement.

The ceasefire, which took effect in November 2024, requires Hezbollah to withdraw its forces north of the Litani River, while Israel was to withdraw from southern Lebanon by January 26. The deadline was extended to February 18. In recent months, cross-border attacks have continued, with Israeli airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions and Hezbollah launching drones and rockets into Israeli territory.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry reports that Israeli strikes have killed at least 83 people and injured 228 since November. Recent Israeli operations include strikes on weapons convoys and border villages. Hezbollah has condemned the latest attack, while Israel states it will continue to act against security threats.
