Irish-born Marine veteran Graham Dale, known for co-writing “The Green Marine: An Irishman’s War in Iraq,” was killed on December 9 while defending a Ukrainian position from a Russian attack. Dale had served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2002 to 2008 and was a mortarman with several medals to his name. He had previously expressed his commitment to helping in the war in Ukraine, viewing it as an attack on all of Europe. Dale is one of several U.S. Marine veterans who have lost their lives in the conflict in Ukraine.
