Israel Police Commissioner Danny Levy confirmed at the scene that the warhead may not have detonated on impact. “We evacuated several buildings, so that, in the unlikely case that the missile explodes, nobody will be hurt,” he said. “Our sappers are handling the matter.” Rescue teams, he added, were “focusing all efforts on the four who are supposed to be here, using all means at our disposal.”
A Hezbollah drone struck a home in the northern community of Shomrat, according to rescue services.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene “following initial reports of a drone impact,” the Fire and Rescue Service says.

The four missing were identified as an elderly couple, their 40-year-old son, and their caregiver. The missile scored a direct hit on the building’s lower floor, collapsing balconies and triggering a fire.

The Fire and Rescue Service said the structure was at “serious” risk of collapse and was conducting scans “under complex conditions due to the possibility of trapped individuals.” A gas balloon also exploded at the scene.
Magen David Adom said 11 people were injured in total. Senior MDA medic Shevah Rotenstreich said responders “managed to move large pieces of concrete with our own hands and rescued an 82-year-old man from the debris who was seriously injured but conscious.”
The man arrived at Rambam Health Care Campus in moderate condition before being taken into surgery in serious condition. Eight others were lightly wounded, including a baby, and four were treated for shock.
The Israeli Air Force said it was investigating why intercept attempts failed. The missile carried a conventional warhead, not a cluster munition. Channel 12 reported the warhead weighed 450 kilograms.
As the Haifa strike unfolded, a drone launched from Lebanon hit a home in Kibbutz Shomrat in the Western Galilee, causing damage but no injuries.
Separately, six people were lightly wounded in Deir al-Asad after a Hezbollah rocket struck the town.
The IDF said Hezbollah has fired approximately 165 rockets at United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) positions in southern Lebanon since entering the fight.
