Charles Donohoe, a former leader of the far-right Proud Boys extremist group, has been sentenced to over three years in prison for his involvement in the plot to attack the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Donohoe pleaded guilty in April 2022 to conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding and assaulting, resisting, or impeding police. U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly sentenced him to three years and four months in prison, but he could be eligible for release in a month or two due to time already served. Donohoe was the second Proud Boy to plead guilty in connection with the attack, and his sentence may set a precedent for other cooperating Proud Boys facing legal consequences for their involvement.
