Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claimed that Israeli intelligence agency Mossad has deeply infiltrated Iran’s secret services, in a recent interview with CNN Turk. Ahmadinejad asserted that the head of an Iranian Secret Service unit, which was specifically established to counter Israeli operations within Iran, was in fact an agent working for Mossad.
Ahmadinejad claimed that the head of the Iranian unit tasked with countering Mossad activities was working as a double agent, feeding critical information back to Israel. He also alleged that around 20 other agents within the Iranian intelligence team responsible for monitoring Israeli activities had been recruited by Mossad. According to Ahmadinejad, these operatives were involved in providing sensitive information regarding Iran’s nuclear program to Israel and played a role in several high-profile intelligence operations within Iran, including the theft of nuclear documents and the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists.
In the interview, Ahmadinejad stated that these agents enabled Israel to carry out complex intelligence operations inside Iran and obtain critical information with remarkable speed. He criticized the Iranian government for remaining silent about this infiltration, suggesting that the issue has been deliberately downplayed to avoid public scrutiny.

This is not the first time that Israel has been accused of conducting espionage operations inside Iran. In 2018, then-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly revealed documents he claimed were obtained by Mossad agents, demonstrating Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Moreover, Ahmadinejad’s statements follow a recent claim by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in September, announcing the arrest of 12 individuals suspected of collaborating with Israel and plotting against Iran’s security. While Iran frequently claims to thwart Mossad operations, the authenticity and success of these counter-efforts have often been questioned by international observers.
